• Out of the Frying Pan… Radiangames Inferno [Review]

Radiangames continues its beautiful shooter series on Xbox Live Indie Games with the third release in the series, Inferno. We loved the first release JoyJoy, but weren’t too keen on the follow-up Crossfire… so the great news is that Inferno is pretty much a maze-orientated version of JoyJoy.
With some great level design, gorgeous visuals and [...]

  • Cause We Got a Great Big Convoy… Reckless Squad [Preview]

Well, mark this down as one of the fastest introductory articles to preview turn arounds ever in DIYgamer.com history. Despite only officially announcing the game’s existence yesterday, I’ve already played a good deal of the press version and now have a gooey, creamy preview waiting for you to gobble it all up. Impressive huh?

  • So We’ve Got This Thing Called a Forum…

So get this, true story, there are these things all around the world wide web (the internets!) that are called forums. They’re termed after the ancient Roman political conferences where all the senators would gather in a “forum” to discuss issues regarding their society and laws. As it turns out, the internet has taken this [...]

  • blackfridaykarloffI hope everybody had a great Thanksgiving! Now, it’s time for some much needed relaxation and gaming time. And what better place to start than on either Steam, Impulse, or GamersGate where each are running outrageous deals on video games, including a few indie games!

Currently most deals I’ve found relating to indie games have been on Steam, Impulse and GamersGate with Direct2Drive waiting until “Cyber Monday” (sounds dirty) to begin the flood of sales for our enjoyment. Which is fine because there are some fantastic deals being dropped by these companies and, honestly, I don’t think you’ll be able to recover from all of them by the time the weekend ends anyways.

Also please keep in mind that I am merely listing the indie games that are on sale. However, for those of you who enjoy deals on mainstream titles, I will be including a “mega link” at the very bottom that will link you directly to the home of the sales. There are plenty of great games — indie or not — that are on sale for today.

    On to the deals!

    1. Madballs in Babo Invasion – 80% off

BaboThe spiritual successor to the massively popular freeware top-down shooteris an arena based 3D shooter offering players a satisfying and immersive experience in both single-player and multiplayer, including ‘Invasion Mode’ where players are able to design their own combat maps almost instantaneously by placing a combination of map tiles to create a never-before-seen map before gameplay starts. Truly, no two games are ever the same.

Featuring the recently re-released Madballs™ characters, Oculus Orbus™ and Horn Head™, from the popular 1980s toys best remembered for their outrageously bad looks and graphically colourful names, Madballs in…Babo: Invasion is a feature laden ‘casually hardcore’ action shooter.

[only $2 down from $10 via Steam]

    2. Light of Altair – 50% off

LightofAltairLight of Altair is a sci-fi colony building game with a deep plot. You are not alone in space, 8 factions from different parts of the world are all following their own agendas in the solar system; diplomacy and orbital-combat are essential to learn.

Light of Altair is based on a custom built 3D engine that enables easy zooming from galaxies all the way down to individual moons and asteroids covered in the colonies with their glass domes, mines and launch pads. Advanced shader technology is used to add rich details and lighting to surfaces.

[only $7.49 down from $14.99 via GamersGate]

    3. Sins of a Solar Empire – 50% off

sinsofasolarempire“The independent Trader Worlds must unite to defend themselves against the return of their exiled brethren – ‘The Advent’ and the arrival of the desperate remnants of the ancient Vasari Empire.”

Sins of a Solar Empire is an innovative real-time strategy game featuring seamless transition between epic strategy and tactical combat modes, initiating what is already becoming known as the RT4X sub-genre. A galaxy of intriguing aliens, powerful starships, and colossal planets comes to life with stunning 3D graphics, unparalleled sense of scale, and a cinematic musical score. Explore and conquer nearby planets and distant solar systems by applying brute force, cunning strategy, elegant diplomacy, economic mastery, and researched technology.

Debatable whether this is truly “indie” or not, but added for good measure regardless.

[only $9.99 down from $19.99 via Impulse]

    4. Starscape – 50% off

starscapeWith most of its crew missing and its weapons systems ruined the space research station Aegis is all but lost. As the last remaining pilot you must help rebuild the station’s defences, acquire alien technology and create your own uniquely configured set of fighters. By mining the asteroids within the grid dimension, valuable resources can be harvested to fuel the Aegis’ molecular furnace and build devastating weaponry. In the warp you will encounter allies to aid in your struggle to escape, uncover the terrible purpose of the evil Archnid race and learn why you and the rest of the crew were brought here.

[only $9.97 down from $19.95 via Impulse]

Of course there are plenty of non-Indie deals as well. Impulse has almost 50 titles and Steam has slashed a couple of its bundles in half! So really, whether your an indie gamer or not, there’s something for everybody. Enjoy the spoils, my friends. It’s a good day to be a PC gamer.

[Steam mega sale, Impulse mega sale, GamersGate mega sale]

One Response to “Black Friday Indie Game Sales!”

    1. Jeff says:

I’m pretty sure Direct2Drive is only going to offer one game on Monday (not the singular of deal in the countdown clock), and I’m also pretty sure that one game is going to be Mass Effect for $4.95 in the US / Batman: Arkham Asylum for £17.50 in the UK. Just look at the source of the “all killer no filler” sales pages, where they’ve commented out the game (which game is different on the .com and .co.uk sites), with the comment “Cyber Monday deal”. They’ve even stuck the countdown to the end of Cyber Monday timers up at http://www.direct2drive.com/Sites/RET/staticpage/_swf/cybermonday.swf and http://www.direct2drive.co.uk/Sites/RET-EN-GB/staticpage/_swf/cybermonday.swf for when they start the sales, which have background images that confirm those games.

So the remaining Steam sales are the only hope for further indie deals this weekend.
