[...] ‘Torchlight’ 50% Off Weekend Sale on Steam December 18th, 2009 | Author: Arsen Nazaryan This might be cliche, but you’d have to be living under a rock if you haven’t heard of Torchlight yet. Runic Games has created an RPG that is on the list of countless websites as not only one of the best indie games but one of the best in general of 2009. With an abundance of appraisal the title currently reigns supreme and its popularity is justified with excellent gameplay. Even our own Geoff Gibson thought of the game as amazing.
[...] For those that don’t yet know, Torchlight is a brilliant game in the same vein as Diablo so fans of the series need not look elsewhere to get their fix in before the third iteration of Diablo launches a gajillion years from now. You can even read our own review of it! [...]

I never played TQ in multi-player (I was years behind everyone else on discovering it), but having played D2 and Mythos I'd rather have the Mythos style online play than the Diablo style. On the plus side, now we just have to count down the months until the MMO hits alpha testing to get it! :D

That's a valid point, perhaps it's just my experience with this genre especially that makes me crave multiplayer so much. Games like Titan Quest, Diablo 2, and Diablo 1 all featured some sort of multiplayer...

This is a good review, and it points out a few annoyances that I missed in my own review, but I have to argue on the multiplayer point: there's a big difference between a single player game that is made to be a single player game and a single player game that is only single player because the devs just couldn't make it work. For example, I loved the Thief games, and would have loved to have a co-op mode of some sort in it, but the lack of multiplayer didn't make it any worse of a game.
